GreatWaveHokusaiprint.jpg

Target age group: grades 2-8

Time allowance: 30-45 mintues

Description of project:  Students use watercolors to add color to famous Japanese woodcuts.  Black and white versions are provided so that you can add the color yourself.

Materials you will need:  copies of the pattern pages, watercolor paint (various sizes but including some small ones), brushes

Suggestion:  This would a good project to do after looking at some Japanese woodcuts done by Hiroshige and Hokusai, either from an art book or using online images from something like Goolge image search.
