Pop-up Bunraku theatre scene

HistoryGeography/popupbunrakudisplay2.jpg

Target age group:  grades 4-8 (but it has been done with as young as second grade)

Time allowance:  About an hour, but it depends on how much coloring they do.  You could budget two 30-45 minute sessions if you are doing this with a class.  Depending on age and ability of your students, you may want to do some preparation of parts.  You'll certainly want to do the X-acto knife cutting ahead of time.

Description of project:  Students cut and assemble a small pop-up scene from Japanese Bunraku theater.

Materials you will need:  copies of the patterns on card stock, colored pencils, scissors, white glue, glue stick, X-acto knife
